For a lot of people who are trying to lose weight, they implement a low fat diet when they do their grocery shopping and stock up the house with the correct items. Then life happens and they go out or are in a hurry at lunch time and all the effort goes for naught.  

For success in your weight loss efforts, we need to change the way you see and consume food. The changes in your metabolism as you begin a low fat diet will be an adventure by itself. You have to be prepared for the energy level changes that come with the introduction of a low fat diet into your everyday lifestyle. Your body is going to wonder where those burgers and pizza went. Just be realistic while reaching your goals. You CAN do this, just believe it and it will happen. 

Switch to Low Fat Options 

A great low fat diet tip that you should integrate into your program early on is to clean out the refrigerator and pantry of all the landmines you put in there to derail your success. Keeping those leftover Halloween candies “just in case” is a prime cause of a late night chocolate binge. Get those items out of the house and there’s no excuses lying around. Instead, stock up on healthy snacks and fruits and vegetables.

If you feel those cravings starting to come on, have a glass of water and an apple or some other piece of fruit. You will quickly find yourself looking forward to those items, its matter over mind. The more it matters to you to change, the more your mind wants to make the change.  

Portions, portions, portions… 

My mother always told me to make sure and clean my plate. The problem became that my plates got a lot bigger as I did in life and not with low fat diet items. Serving sizes over the years have become larger, just look at the large warehouse stores and what they sell. Try to remember to not only change to a low fat diet plan, but change to a portion that is roughly the size of your fist. You will be surprised at the success you will achieve just by this tip alone. 

Start the day right 

Eat breakfast every day, low fat diet style. Have those eggs in the morning, just leave out the yokes or use an egg substitute. Have that slice of wheat toast, but don’t cover it with butter and jelly. Instead apply some low fat butter spread with some honey. This, with a glass of water and some juice, will start your day off the right way. By eating breakfast, you continue to feed your metabolism and keep the engine running strong. By keeping yourself feeling full for longer periods of time, you will feel less like binging and wrecking your success.
